“Currently flowers are my favorite painting subject presented playfully in a colorful and bold style. I like to use thick paint to create texture and often work on the canvas with a brush in one hand and a pallet knife in the other; switching from one to the other to get the desired result.

The simple yet profound beauty of nature fills my soul with gratitude, excitement and the inspiration to paint.” -Bev

Bev Haley retired from the business world fourteen years ago and began taking art classes at the SRJC.

Once finding her niche in acrylic painting and some mixed media collage, she has enjoyed making and appreciating art ever since.

She continues learning and improving her skills by participating in painting workshops locally and in Mexico where she lives part time. This summer she took her painting experience to a new level, traveling and painting in the South of France alongside other talented painters.

After losing her home and all her belongings in the 2018 Sonoma County Wildfires, she found herself frozen with fear and not able to move forward for a time. It was only after returning to the blank canvas and colorful paints that she was able to feel whole and somewhat normal again. She believes wholeheartedly in the healing power of Art.

Bev and her husband now live and enjoy life in Sausalito as they work on rebuilding their home in Santa Rosa. The dining room in their small duplex is her art studio and it overflows with precious art supplies and bright, happy paintings.
